Abstract
Nowadays, there is a growing demand for health
services of high quality and low-cost. The development of digital technology
has created a large volume of information. In the health sector, the largest
amount of data is transmitted by radiology laboratories because of the
diagnostic imaging examination data. The aim of this project is to create an
online platform for the rational management of total cost and revenues of
diagnostic imaging imaginations of hospital units. Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) are used for design of interactive maps that are uploaded on a central
information system. GIS systems are used for the spatial analysis of
quantitative and qualitative variables. The platform acts as a surveillance
system that enables users to analyze financial data and share their results.
The results concern 23 Hospital Units (H.Us) of the 6th Health
Region in Greece in the period from 2012 to 2015. A spatial analysis was
performed in correlation with the statistical analysis. There is an overtime
reduction of the number of diagnostic imaging examinations. There is also a
strong linear correlation between the cost, revenues of diagnostic imaging
examinations and the number of hospital beds.
