Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing & Scientific Committee, allow me to extend my warmest greetings and to welcome you to the website of the 1st International Symposium on Business, Economics and Financial Applications (ISBEFA) which will be held on June 1-2, 2012, in the heart of Kefalonia’s island Argostoli city, Greece. ISBEFA is jointly organized by the Department of Business Administration, Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands, the Department of Economic and Regional Development, University of Central Greece, the Department of Business Administration, Democritus University of Thrace, the Business School, State University of New York at New Paltz, NY, USA and the Portsmouth Business School/Department of Economics, University of Portsmouth, UK. The 1st ISBEFA will be hosted by the Department of Public Relations and Communication, Technological Educational Institute of Ionian Islands in Argostoli.
With ISBEFA we initiate a series of symposia on business, economics and finance. The aim is to bring together researchers working in all aspects of these subjects (both on the theoretical and experimental sides). Participants may present their research either as 15-minute papers or within the context of virtual presentations. Selected best papers from the conference proceedings will be awarded and will be recommended for publication to specific journals/special issues.
I am proud to announce our keynote speakers: Dr. Charalampos Botsaris, Professor of Operational Research, Department of Regional and Economic Develpment, Univesrity of Central Greece. Dr. Hossein Hassani, an internationally known researcher in Singular Spectrum Analysis and Senior Lecturer in Statistics and Econometrics at the Bournemouth University Business School, UK. Dr. Gerasimos A. Kolaitis, Associate Professor and Director of Child Psychiatry Department at the Athens University Medical School, "Aghia Sophia" Children's Hospital, Athens, Greece. Dr. Costas Leon, economist and lecturer at César Ritz Colleges, Lucerne, Switzerland, Dr. Rebeca Jimenez-Rodriguez, Associate Professor of Econometrics at the University of Salamanca, Spain, Dr. Jesus Lopez-Rodriguez, an economist with numerous publications, associate professor (with tenure) at University of A Coruna (Spain) and visiting scholar at Harvard and at London School of Economics, Dr. Gianfranco A. Vento, Associate Professor in Banking & Finance at Guglielmo Marconi University, Rome and also Principal Lecturer in the same area at Regent's College, London with working experience in the Bank of Italy and author of numerous articles in banking and finance.
